There was good news this morning as Nottingham passed their early morning inspection meaning that there are five meetings taking place this afternoon.  There are no anticipated problems at Bath, Kempton or Southwell on the flat, whilst there is a jumps card at Wetherby.  There is one runner from the stable today as Paricolor (pictured above) makes the long trip up to Wetherby to contest the 2m juvenile hurdle at 1.50pm.  Our gelding was a useful stayer on the flat in France and has had just the one start so far over hurdles.  He has since had a wind operation and should improve today under David Noonan.

In a fantastic turnaround, Khalid Abdullah has decided to keep Enable in training as a six year old so that she can bid for that historic third Arc in 2020.  She was expected to retire to stud at the end of this campaign so that is great news for racing enthusiasts around the globe as racing certainly needs it's stars.

I see that Willie Mullins has a rare runner at Bath this afternoon as Diamond Hill contests the 1m6f Listed contest at 3.30pm.  I can't remember the last time he had a runner there, but this one looks a worthy favourite.

Golfer Shane Lowry was at Punchestown yesterday as he is a member of the Clara Jug Syndicate that owns Theatre Of War.  Unfortunately for him, his horse fell three out when still in with a chance.  With all of his winnings from golf you would think that he would have some of his own horses!  Talking of Punchestown, I wonder if Notebook went into the notebook after scoring at the meeting...just my sense of humour!

Snooker player Mark Wiliams moved into the second round of the English Open by beating Jamie Clarke 4-2.  Williams had a break of 142 which is the highest of the tournament so far.

Andy Murray is through to the second round of the European Open tennis championship, although he is ready to drop out of the tournament as his wife is set to give birth.  Murray is now ranked 243rd in the world.  Remember, he is a former world number one...there is still a long way to go before he can trouble the top players again.

When I was a child growing up I was made to walk the plank.  We couldn't afford a dog!  Keep smiling...
