There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with flat cards from Ayr, Newbury and Newcastle, whilst there is a jumps meeting from our local track at Newton Abbot.  David has four runners at Newton Abbot today; El Terremoto, Ourmullion, Picture Painter and Hot Ryan.  El Terremoto contest the 3m2f handicap chase at 2.30pm and has the burden of top weight.  He ran a cracker in the Summer Plate at Market Rasen but disappointed last time.  A repeat of his earlier effort would see him go close under David Noonan.

Ourmullion runs in the 2m2½f handicap hurdle at 3.35pm.  He has won at this track and has been running creditably in defeat since, although the handicapper keeps putting him up the weights as a consequence.  He is 11lbs higher than when last successful but should run his race once again.  Regular rider David Noonan is in the saddle.

Finally, we have two runners in the 3m2½f conditional jockeys' handicap hurdle at 4.45pm.  Picture Painter (pictured above) was a winner over course and distance in July and looks to have a good chance in the hands of Ben Godfrey who takes 5lbs off his back.  Hot Ryan comes here in excellent form having won her last two starts at Worcester.  She is 7lbs higher now but should also go well for Charlie Hammond.

After winning at Kelso on Wednesday Aidan Coleman has now ridden a winner at every jumps track in the country.  He had ridden winners at every other track some time ago but Kelso has taken a while to tick off his list.  He also rode his 1,000th winner recently so has had plenty of cause for celebration lately.  Well done to him.

An awkward camera angle caught punters out at Pontefract yesterday.  It looked as though Anna Bunina had won the 1m2f handicap but the official photo revealed that 14/1 chance Aiya had won.  Some punters certainly had their fingers burned on the photo.

Manchester United and Arsenal had good results in Europe last night, winning 1-0 and 3-0 respectively.

Rory McIlroy has been complaining that he is travelling and playing too much golf.  I see that he is due to play in a skins game in January with the likes of Tiger Woods, Hideki Matsuyama and Jason Day with the winner picking up £7 million.  With that sort of cash up for grabs, I don't think I would be complaining.

Did you hear about the cross-eyed teacher?  He couldn't control his pupils!  Have a great day...
