Van Gogh Du Granit - runs at Market Rasen

Today there are seven meetings, flat  cards at Newbury, Newmarket, Ripon, Doncaster and Haydock plus jumps cards at Cartmel and Market Rasen.  David has six runners today, 5 at Market Rasen and one at Cartmel.  Legal History runs in the 2.10pm at Market Rasen a competitive handicap hurdle over two miles and there is good prize money up for grabs.  He was last seen finishing second at Perth when making the running didn't really suit him in a small runner field.  He had been very progressive previously winning at Ascot and Exeter and has undergone wind surgery since.  A faster pace and big field today should suit and at 14/1 he looks a good each way price.  David runs two in the 2m5f handicao chase, the feature summer plate, Van Gogh Du Granit and El Terremoto.  Van Gogh has been ultra consistent since coming from France and the drop back in trip today should suit with another big run expected.  El Terremoto also runs in the 15 runner handicap and is making his debut for Pond House.  Bought from Doncaster Sales in May.  He has to improve on his most recent form to figure but has been going well at home and he looks reasonably well handicapped on the best of his form.  We will find out more about him today.

Timeforeben runs in the 3.55pm handicap hurdle over 2m7f.  She has been a bit disappointing of late but did well last summer and it is hoped a recent wind operation can get her back on track.  if returning to form she should not be too far away.  Malangen is our final runner of the day in the last at Market Rasen.  He needs to brush up on his jumping from his chasing debut at Newton Abbot last time but he has done plenty more schooling at home since then.  He gets a handy four year old allowance and hopefully and return to two miles should suit and he can go well.

Mr Clarkson is our runner at Cartmel in the 3.05pm handicap hurdle.  He won last time out at Worcester and the recent rain that they have had at the track will suit.  Conor O'Farrell is on board and again if he runs like he did last time he looks to have a good chance off his current rating.  All the races today look competitive but fingers crossed with a bit of luck all the horses should run well and we can sneak a winner or two!  Two of the races from Market Rasen are actually going to be shown on ITV so that will be good.

My golf bets are still looking okay.  Shane Lowry and Tommy Fleetwood are in first and second places at the moment at 70/1 and 20/1.  Mind you we are only at half way and there are two days to go!  One bad tee shot can change everything, just ask Rory McIlroy!

I would like to wish Steve Bruce the best of luck as the new manager of Newcastle United.  I met him at Aintree and he seems like a really nice bloke.  Lets just hope the fans take to him!

I'd kill for a Nobel Peace Prize!  Have a nice day everyone.
