There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with flat cards from Brighton, Wolverhampton and Pontefract as well a jumps card from Uttoxeter.  David has two runners at Uttoxeter today; Ourmullion and Mrs Miggins.  Ourmullion contests the conditional jockeys' handicap hurdle at 5.50pm.  He has finished third on his last couple of starts over hurdles so clearly possesses ability.  Jonjo O'Neill Jr has been booked to ride so that must be considered a positive.  Mrs Miggins (pictured above) runs in the 2m7½f handicap hurdle at 8.00pm.  She was a course winner three weeks ago over 2m4f and this longer trip should not inconvenience her.  She is 7lbs higher in the weights today but that would not have stopped her last time so a similar level of for would see her go close.  Tom Scudamore is in the saddle.

I thought that Aldrin ran creditably on his seasonal reappearance yesterday at Worcester to finish third.  He is yet to win on his seasonal debut so he looks set for a good season if he can build on this promising effort.  Great Tempo looks as though he is going to need further assistance from the handicapper as he was very disappointing.

It was the end of the Wimbledon dream for 15 year old Coco Gauff last night as she was well-beaten by former world number one Simona Halep.  I am sure we will be seeing much more of her in the future.  Mind you, she has pocketed £176,000 for her efforts and I reckon she will be turning away potential sponsors so it is not all bad news.  There was a great win for British number one Johanna Konta however as she beat sixth seed Petre Kvitova to reach the quarter finals.  There were some great rallies and if she continues to play to this sort of level she could be in with a real shout.

Lewis Hamilton has been out and about partying again.  The current formula one world champion turned up to a bash in his £2.4 million Ferrari La Ferrari which was even personalised with his name on the door.  I don't think that if I were his boss at Mercedes I would be very pleased!

The recent success of England's lady footballers at the world cup has meant that there has been an increase of 712% in women's football.  That seems like a staggering amount.
