There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with flat cards from Ayr, Ripon and Windsor as well as a jumps fixture from Worcester.  David has two runners today at Worcester; Aldrin and Great Tempo.  Aldrin (pictured above) contests the 2m handicap hurdle at 4.45pm.  Our six year old has won three of his seven starts over hurdles, each time on good ground so the underfoot conditions should suit.  He has also won on this track although is 8lbs higher than his last winning rating so a personal best is required here.  Given his relatively low mileage that is not out of the question and he has decent claims under Tom Scudamore.  Great Tempo runs in the 2m7f handicap hurdle at 5.15pm.  He ran well enough over fences last time at Ffos Las and the handicapper has given him a chance on a mark of 93.  He will stay and should go close, although he doesn't win as often as he ought to.

Frankie Dettori and Too Darn Hot were the stars of the show at Deauville yesterday afternoon when they won the Group One Prix Jean Prat by three lengths.  The result was never really in doubt as the pair bolted up, putting to rest any doubt that last year's champion two year old had not trained on.  Frankie will have to be careful with all of these flying dismounts he will end up damaging his knees and ankles...just try jumping off a chair a few times and see what it feels like (and a horse is considerably taller).  On second thoughts, perhaps you shouldn't!

I see that it is former Pond House staff member Owen Burrows' 45th birthday today.  We visited Owen at his stable in Lambourn recently...mind you, over the course of a few weeks we visited almost everybody!  Many happy returns Owen.

I love watching all the posers at Wimbledon.  I wonder how many other tennis tournaments they go to?  I once went to watch a big tournament in Bournemouth and there was hardly anyone there.  It's a bit like Royal Ascot and the British or Monaco Grand Prix's...do any of these people ever go to any of the other events on the calendar?

Why have Manchester United taken Pogba and Lukaku on tour to Australia?  I thought that both players wanted to leave?  They obviously fancy a nice holiday before heading for the exit!

Jon Rahm shot a great round of 62 to win the Irish Open and is now looking forward to next week's Open.  I forgot to mention that he picked up £930,000 for his troubles...not a bad few days work.

I phoned the local ramblers club the other day.  The bloke who answered just went on and on!  Have a nice day...
