       Malangen runs at Newton Abbot

Today there are six meetings.  Flat cards at Sandown, Doncaster, Haydock, Beverley and Chelmsford plus a jumps card at Newton Abbot.  David has three runners at Newton Abbot this afternoon.  Malangen makes his chasing debut in the 2.40pm novices handicap chase.  We is a course winner who has won three hurdle races.  He only carries 10st as he received a nice four year old allowance and he has schooled well at home.  With a nice clear round he should not be too far away.  Hot Ryan runs in the 3.15pm selling handicap hurdle.  She was a good third at Uttoxeter last time out not beaten very far and a repeat of that run should see her go close.  Noel's Boy is our final runner of the day in the bumper at 4.55pm.  He finished second in his only start in and Irish point to point.  He has had wind surgery and goes nicely at home so it will be interesting to see how he gets on.  Tom Scudamore rides all three of the runners today.

Bookmakers William Hill are to close 700 shops and 4500 jobs are at risk.  Whenever I go into a shop these days there does only ever seem to be a few people in there playing on the machines.  I can see that in two or three years there will be hardly any betting shops.  Where I live in Brixham at one time there were five betting shops but now it is down to just one, a Ladbrokes shop.  Everything is online these days.  Surely the government has got to help or there will be even more people out of work?

I think there is a horse running today at Newton Abbot named after Harry Redknapp, it is called The Jam Man and it loots a bet to get your teeth into!  I would like to wish one of our former members of staff, Les Jefford a very happy birthday.  He was a very good amateur jockey and champion point to point rider.  He now trains point to pointers not far from the yard.

At Wimbledon yesterday Rafael Nadal really celebrated his win after beating Nick Kyrgios yesterday.  It looked a real crunch match and I have never seen Nadal get so excited and there was no love lost between these two.  It was like a McEnroe verses Jimmy Connors match of years gone by.

So at last Chelsea have announced that Frank Lampard is their new manager.  Let's hope he makes a good start to his new job or David and Jack will have something to say!  They are both big Chelsea fans.

The family that sticks together should bathe more often!  Have a nice day.
