There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with flat cards from Chepstow, Windsor and Wolverhampton as well as a jumps card a Southwell.  There are no runners from Pond House today although stable jockey Tom Scudamore has picked up an outside ride at Southwell for his brother Michael and it looks to have a chance.  I thought that Jacbequick ran another solid race to finish runner-up at Southwell yesterday afternoon in what looked to be a competitive little contest.  He keeps running well without quite getting his head in front, although I don't suppose the handicapper will be dropping him anytime soon based on this effort.

I see that Tom Scu had a nasty looking fall from the Neil Mulholland trained Global Rhapsody at Southwell yesterday afternoon but he quickly got to his feet...I am not sure I would have done.  They certainly build these jockeys tough.

Hayley Turner rode a winner at Royal Ascot but was fined £1,600 and received a nine day ban for excessive use of the whip.  Just think, if they were to change the whip rules she would have lost the race.  I am personally of the opinion that people who break the rules should be disqualified...it may sound draconian but it is the only way to stamp it out.

There is a fantastic two page article on Sir Henry Cecil in today's Racing Post.  I was so lucky to spend a weekend at Warren Place as his guest.  He told some wonderful stories and cooked Martin and myself a meal.  It was a weekend I will never forget.

Sam Twiston-Davies and Aidan Coleman have both joined the elite list of jockeys currently having ridden 1,000 winners.  Congratulations to them both on a fantastic achievement.  Tom Scu is already on that list having ridden 1,276 winners and is fourth on the list of current jockeys riding.

Andy Murray was successful in the doubles tournament at Queens Club yesterday with Feliciano Lopez.  Murray could return to singles action in the US Open.  Mind you, the difference between doubles and singles is enormous - there will certainly be much more running about to do.  Meanwhile, Katie Boulter has been ruled out of Wimbledon with a back injury but still picks up £20,300 for not playing...I was definitely in the wrong sport!

I bought some HP sauce the other day.  It is going to cost me 10 pence a month for the next two years!  Keep smiling...
