One Runner At Bath

Following the abandonment of Leicester yesterday afternoon, there are five meetings currently scheduled to go ahead today.  The action comes on the flat at York, Sandown and Chester on the flat, whilst there is a jumps card from Hexham.  The ground at Hexham is already being forecast as soft and this is a very stiff track at the best of times.  It will certainly take some getting and I reckon there are going to be some slow motion finishes and some tired horses.  David has one runner this afternoon as Dream Free contests the 1m3½f handicap at Bath at 1.45pm.  His one win on the level came on good/soft ground so underfoot conditions should be fine for him and we know he is fit from hurdling.  Good apprentice jockey Finley Marsh gets the ride and he takes 3lbs off his back.  He is a 7/1 chance according to the Post and has each-way claims.

Franny Norton is the man to follow at Chester and he has six rides at the track today and some decent chances.

The seller at York yesterday was the most valuable race of it's kind with £12,600 to the winner.  I notice the third was claimed for £18,000.  He is called Speed Rating - I will have to keep an eye on him.  Martin won the race in 1997 with a horse called Chinaider for Tony Lomas.  He let the horse go after his very next race and he never won again...they was certainly a shrewd pair!

England slaughtered the West Indies in their cricket world cup match yesterday largely thanks to a great 100 not out from Joe Root...not only that, he took 2 wickets to boot.

After the second round of the US Open golf Justin Rose is just two shots behind leader Gary Woodland.  The weather doesn't look very good though and things could yet change very quickly over the final two rounds.

Tyson Fury fights at 4am.  He has been on every talk show in America and he has done very well, seemingly winning over the American public.  Let's hope that he wins and doesn't keep messing things up like his brother Tommy in the Love Island villa!  Tyson is telling everyone that Anthony Joshua is finished...I'm not so sure about that, but it will certainly help to hype things up when they do inevitably clash.
