The weather is really starting to affect the race programme with Uttoxeter and Haydock abandoned today due to waterlogging.  The ground at Nottingham and Yarmouth is currently heavy so they could well be under threat.  It looks like if you are fancying a bet you will need to be concentrating on Newbury where the ground is currently soft or at Leopardstown where unbelievably, it is good/firm.  We were due to run Hot Ryan at Uttoxeter this evening, but with that abandonment there are now no runners from Pond House today.

Flat trainer Tom Dascombe is of the opinion that the tracks are responsible for the current situation as many of them were watering earlier in the season.

Water was also the cause for the abandonment of Kempton's all-weather meeting last night, although that was because they had a burst water pipe in the Hampton Court area.  I was a-mazed to hear that!  Sorry if that is lost on one or two of you!  Okay, I will stop now...

It is former Pond House stable jockey and eight times champion Peter Scudamore's birthday today.  'Scu' is 61 years old...I wonder who is paying for the birthday party?!  Hope you have a great day Peter.

You can guess where I will be at 3pm today.  As you will know, I am an absolute golf fanatic so I will be tuned into the US Open at Pebble Beach.  They set this course up to be difficult so there will be some big scores if players get on the wrong side of some of the greens...they can be nearly impossible to putt.

Retired darts superstar Phil 'The Power' Taylor lost to a 13 year old whizz kid in an exhibition match.  He was beaten 4-1 by Leighton Bennett at the SAP Darts Slam in Frankfurt  Mind you, the 13 year old is world youth champion.  When you retire you shouldn't play any competitive matches, only exhibitions...that's what I did.

Thought for the day...give a man a job and you have an employee.  Teach a man how to shift blame and you have a manager!  Have a great day...
