Story of Friends runs at Newton Abbot

Today we have five meetings, flat cards at Nottingham, Ripon and Kempton plus jumps cards at Newton Abbot and Fontwell.  David has one runner, Story of Friends in the 3.35pm novice hurdle at Newton Abbot.  The race looks a match on paper between our five year old and the Jamie Snowden trained Thebannerkingrebel and they bet 20/1 bar the two.  We have won our last two starts, a bumper at Exeter and then first time out over hurdles last time at Warwick in good style.  Thebannerkingrebel does have good bumper form and looks a worthy favourite but I am going to stick with our runner who we like a lot with Tom Scu on board.  Tom also has 3 good other rides and they all look to have chances.

Delface finished fourth yesterday and ran okay, maybe he did not quite see out the 2m3f trip.  He may drop a few pounds for this run which will help as he is a very tough and consistent little horse.  Tom Scu did ride a double so well done to him.  I tell you a stable you have got to be careful backing if you are having a bet at the moment and that is Sir Mark Prescott's runners.  The yard has only saddled two winners in 2019 and have gone 130 days and 47 runners without a winner.  I would just keep a watching brief on their horses until they start having one or two winners.

Keeping on the betting theme, it amazes me when trainers say it is a mystery when one of their horses is backed heavily.  Master Sunrise was backed from 28/1 into 9/2 but the horse actually unseated Sean Bowen.  I wonder what would have been said had the horse won?  Also yesterday we had the shortest price loser of the year yesterday at Southwell of odds of 1-16.  As we know, horses are not machines and these things do happen.

Jo Konta is playing very well in the French Open and she has got through to the semi final.  Our last winner was Question of Sport compare Sue Barker in 1976.  She is certainly performing well and she beat the number 7 seed Sloane Stephens 6-1, 6-4.

I see Anthony Joshua has triggered his re-match clause with Andy Ruiz junior and the fight could be in the UK in November or December.  Let's just hope that his attitude is better and he does not get in a punch up with the Mexican or he will lose again.

What do you call someone who hangs around with musicians? A drummer!  Have a nice day.
