There are five meetings taking place this afternoon with flat cards from Carlisle, Redcar, Leicester and Windsor, whilst there is a jumps fixture from Ludlow.  David has two runners at Ludlow today; Druide Premier and Teaser.  Druide Premier contests the 3m novices' handicap hurdle at 3.25pm and he has to carry top weight of 12-7.  He would have to improve on his most recent form to win this, although conditions are expected to suit him well.  Teaser (pictured above) runs in the 2m handicap hurdle at 4.25pm and our four year old takes a drop in class having contested a couple of hot handicaps on his last two starts.  He was a decent performer on the flat and has taken well to hurdles, winning at Warwick.  I think he has decent claims under Tom Scudamore.

There was a delay after the seller at Stratford when auctioneer Nick Lees broke his glasses and had to repair them.  He shouldn't have bothered as there were no bids!

I see that it is one of our former jockeys birthdays today.  Jonothan Lower is 52 today - doesn't time fly?!  Jonothan was champion conditional jockey and tasted Cheltenham Festival success on Sondrio and Kissair many years ago.

There was a great party yesterday for owner Peter Deal's 80th birthday.  Richard Pitman was there (and he can still talk for England!) as well as Henry Candy who trained Make A Stand before I claimed him at Leicester.  As you will know by now, Make A Stand went on to win the Champion Hurdle...I don't think that will ever happen again.  Anyway, we had a fantastic time and I still can't believe that Peter is 80 years old - he is certainly doing well on it!

It looks as though Gareth Bale could be leaving Real Madrid having not played for them in their last match.  Manager Zinedine Zidane said, "If I don't think a player fits in, I don't pick him."  Sounds like Bale is on his way out and there will be no end of Premiership teams interested in securing his services.

Talking of football, the FA Cup Final was a bit dull with Manchester City putting 6 goals past Watford.  City are certainly the best team in England and by quite some considerable margin.

Andy Murray hit some tennis balls last week but still has a long way to go before he is fully fit from his hip operation.  I still think that it is a long shot that he gets to Wimbledon.  Coincidentally, I see they opened the new £70 million roof on court one yesterday and had a few exhibition matches.  Personally, I find it hard to get excited about a roof!

I hope a few of you were on my golf tip earlier last week.  Before the US PGA I told you that I would be having a few quid on Brooks Koepka and he duly obliged.

If Einstein hadn't come up with the theory of relativity somebody else would have...it was only a matter of time!
