                Sleeping Horses!

There are just three meetings today, a flat card at Ripon and two jumps fixtures at Stratford and Market Rasen but there are no runners from Pond House today.  Tom Scu goes to Market Rasen while David Noonan is in action at Stratford.  The ground is good to firm at Stratford and there are only three runners in the novice chase.  When are we going to get any decent amount of rain?  There is also another three runner novice chase at Market Rasen so that is six runners in two novice chases.  Maybe the trainers are telling the authorities that the don't want these sort of races on fast ground or are there not simply not enough of these type of horses about?

I am off to Lambourn today to join in celebrations for Peter Deal's 80th birthday.  He used to own the great Make A Stand.  I must say that Peter looks much younger than his years but I guess this is down to his wife Pam looking after him so well!  I am very much looking forward to the day.  

There is a good point to point on this afternoon, not too far from us at Bratton Down up on Exmoor.  There are 7 races with the first one due off at 2pm.  If the weather is okay then it is a good day out.  The postcode for the location is EX31 4SG so if you put this into your sat nav you should get there!

I don't understand why the can't move the Europa Cup Final.  After all it is between Arsenal and Chelsea.  All the fans, if they can get tickets have got to travel to the Baku Olympic stadium in Azerbaijan.  I just would have thought with two teams from the same country there should be a clause that the venue can be changed.  It would save people travelling half way across the world and probably a lot of trouble!  I wonder who all the football transfers will be this summer.  My team West Ham are talking about giving Andy Carroll a new contract.  If I was in charge I would only pay him for the games he plays!  Apparently he has just bought Rod Stewart's house so he must have a few quid!

I put £2000 on a horse today, when I got back it was gone!  Have a good day.
