        Dromineer Winner at Taunton

It was great to win the last race at Taunton yesterday with newcomer Dromineer in the bumper under David Noonan.  Our six year old always looked like the winner and he was backed into 6/5 favourite.  He won by 11 lengths and it was a good performance.  It was particularly brilliant for owners William Frewen and MCP who have been very patient.  He has been a little difficult to train as you may have realised with him only making his debut as a six year old.  He has always shown ability at home and it was great everyone's patience has been rewarded.  William has been a great supporter of Pond House for many years and it was nice to get these colours formerly sported by the legendary Lough Derg back in the winners enclosure.

Ourmullion finished fourth in the 7.30pm handicap hurdle at Taunton and was beaten 8 lengths.  I thought he was going to win just before two out but he got squeezed out just before the hurdle and fell away.  He showed enough that he can be winning off this mark in the future.  Eur Gone West ran up at Perth and his jumping to the right did not really help his cause.  He ran okay on his first try in a much more competitive race.  He is now on his summer holidays and there will be plenty more fun to be had with him next season.

Today we have five meetings, jumps cards at Perth, Warwick and Kempton plus flat cards at Beverley and Chelmsford.  David has one runner at Kempton and one at Warwick.  Dromineer was declared at Warwick in case the ground was too firm at Taunton last night but as he won, he will not be running again today!  Jacbequick runs in the 4.40pm at Kempton, the conditional jockeys handicap hurdle.  The quick ground will suit and he ran okay on the flat at Bath just six days ago.  He looks to have each way claims with Charlie Hammond on board.  At Warwick we run Induno in division one of the bumper at 5.20pm.  There are several in this race with form and experience and we are making our racecourse debut but our five year old works well at home and we hope he can run well.  Tom Scudamore rides.

In yesterday's other racing action the first three winners at Fontwell were favourites at odds of 1/3, 1/3 and 1/20.  We need more competitive racing to attract spectators.  I understand why trainers don't want to run their horses on this quicker ground but fingers crossed we get some more rain and we have some better races coming up.  I also notices on the TV that they had sprayed the grass blue in the winners enclosure.  I wonder why, no one seemed to know!

Man City beat Manchester United 2-0 last night.  United did play much better than they had done against Everton at the weekend but City always looked in control.  A big clear out is needed at United.  Wolves beat Arsenal 3-1 and I collected.  I think the Gunners need to spend some money in the Summer as well.

It is funny that as soon as you do well at something the papers will also always find some dirt on you as well!  James Cahill who beat Ronnie O'Sullivan in the snooker made headlines for other reasons as well.  He was once stopped at Manchester airport with 7000 cigarettes and 61kg of tobacco and he had to pay a £3000 fine.  This was back in 2017 but the papers never let you forget!  He won £30,000 for winning the other day so I don't feel too sorry for him.

I think my wife said I'm never certain about anything...had a good day.
