It is a busy day ahead with no less than seven meetings taking place this afternoon.  The action comes from Musselburgh, Kempton, Nottingham and Brighton on the flat, whilst there is jumps action from Haydock, Newton Abbot and Carlisle.  David has three runners at Haydock and one at Newton Abbot.  It is Challenger Finals day at Haydock so the racing is very competitive and we have Miss Tynte, Teaser and Dauphine Ereine in action.  Over at our local track Newton Abbot our representative is Malangen (pictured above).

Miss Tynte contests the 2m2f mares' final at 1.30pm.  She is fully entitled to come on for her first start of the season in which she showed up well for a long way.  David Noonan has won on her and she looks to have each-way claims.  Teaser runs in the 2m final at 2.05pm and he performed with credit in a hot race at Ascot last time.  The form of that race has been franked subsequently and with his four year old allowance, he only has 10-1 to carry.  It is another tough test for him, but it would be quite easy to see him outrun his odds.  Dauphine Ereine contests the 2m5f mares' chase final at 3.50pm and she ran another solid race when runner-up at Bangor last time and is better off at the weights with The Bay Birch who reopposes.  All of the races at Haydock are valuable finals so are extremely competitive.  Any number of horses could have had these races targeted for some time so the market should prove a good guide.

At Newton Abbot Malangen bids to complete the hat-trick in the 2m handicap hurdle at 5pm following victories at Exeter and Bangor.  He has to carry top weight but is in good form and looks to have sound prospects under Tom Scudamore.

Jacbequick ran respectably on the flat at Bath yesterday afternoon to finish fifth on his first start back from a little break and he should be capable of winning again on the level and hopefully over timber as well.

There was a good bit of race commentary from Martin Harris at Bath as he managed to call the first three home in the space hopper race - not a bad effort when you consider there were 50+ competitors.  Perhaps the track should consider the field safety limit next time?!

Manchester City and Spurs play again after their thrilling Champions League match earlier in the week.  Coverage starts at 12.30pm on Sky Sports and it should be another belter.  City look to be the ones to beat but are too short to back at 1/4.  I will be backing Bournemouth at 4/6, West Ham at 23/10 and Wolves at 3/4...that should put some bread on the table!

It looks as though the fight between Anthony Joshua and Jarrell Miller will not take place.  Miller is claimed to have failed a second drugs test - just think how much cash missing out on a big money fight is going to cost him...what a dope (just don't tell him I said that!).

I won't say that ours was a tough school, but we had our own coroner!  Have a great weekend...
