There are three meetings taking place this afternoon with all the action coming on the level.  David does have one runner today as Jacbequick(pictured above) runs in the 1m3½f flat handicap at Bath at 4.35pm.  He had a great season on the flat last term, winning on three occasions and he looks sure to run a decent race once again.  He will like the ground, has won from this mark in the past and jockey Finley Marsh (who takes 3lbs off his back) has won on his as well.  He is likely to be around the 10/1 mark and has each-way claims.

I see that Sandown racecourse are set to use colour coded winning posts to avoid a repeat of the photo finish fiasco they experienced recently.  Why not just leave the relevant winning post in for whichever meeting is taking place?  That seems like the simplest solution to me.  What if you are colour blind?!

The Lambourn and Middleham Open Days take place today and if you are near Lambourn you would get to see the likes of Sprinter Sacre.  Meanwhile, riding legend Sir Anthony McCoy returns to the saddle...on the back of a camel.  I wonder how many camel races AP has won in the past?  That would be worth the price of admission on it's own.  Sir Anthony will also be contesting a showjumping competition.  The weather looks as though it is going to be kind so both venues should have an enjoyable day .

The charity football match at Cheltenham the other night raised a whopping £40,000 for the Injured Jockeys' Fund and my old mate 'Arry Redknapp's team won the match.  There was an interesting penalty shoot-out too...just ask Tom Scu!

Meanwhile, in the proper football Arsenal beat Napoli 1-0 in their Europa League match meaning that they won 3-0 on aggregate.  It was a good away win for the Gunners.  Meanwhile, Chelsea beat Slavia Prague in the other game 4-3 in an entertaining match.  They prevailed 5-3 on aggregate.  It has certainly been a good few days for the Brits in Europe...oh the irony!

Apparently Newcastle are set to give their manager Rafa Benitez £100 million to spend in the transfer window.  Whilst that sounds like ridiculous money, in today's terms, how many quality players is he going to get for that?  The answer is not very many!
