There are just two meetings taking place this afternoon but the good news is that they are both over the sticks with the action coming from Stratford and Wincanton. There are no runners from Pond House today, although stable jockey Tom Scudamore heads to Wincanton for an outside ride whilst David Noonan has picked up three mounts at Stratford. Let's hope the lads are lucky.
I see there is a three runner hunters' chase at Wincanton today. Surely there have to be more hunters around than just those or am I missing something?
Looking ahead to this week, there is plenty going on for racing fans. If you are anywhere near Cheltenham on Wednesday it is the annual charity football match in aid of the Injured Jockeys Fund. The kick-off is at 7.30pm at Cheltenham Town Football ground and last year the event raised £45,000 so do go along and lend your support, it should be an entertaining evening. Later in the week, the annual Lambourn Open Day takes place on Good Friday. The elements have intervened a few times in recent years and it is important to have some nice weather, but it is well worth a look especially as it benefits the Lambourn Housing Trust and the Thames Valley Air Ambulance.

The big football match this afternoon is between Liverpool and Chelsea at 4.30pm. The Scousers look worth a wager to me at odds of 7/10. When Chelsea beat West Ham last week, the players hadn't even managed to get down the tunnel before I had David on the phone gloating. He is a big Chelsea fan and so are his two eldest children Jack and Sophie...there's no accounting for taste. The other match is Crystal Palace and Manchester City and City look far and away the most likely winners although I won't be backing them at 1/3.
They have only just moved into their new stadium but I see that Spurs are already issuing bans to supporters for persistent standing. If you have a seat, why not sit in it? The seats cost an awful lot of money so why on earth would you shell out your hard-earned and then stand for 90 minutes?! Beats me.
