There are three meetings taking place this afternoon with jumps cards from Exeter and Southwell as well as a flat card from Pontefract.  It is going to be a busy day for the yard with five runners at Exeter.  Dream Free contests the novices' selling hurdle at 2.10pm and this represents a drop in class after he was placed in a handicap on his latest start.  He has reasonable claims under Tom Scudamore although I am yet to be entirely convinced that 2m2½f on a stiff track is exactly what he wants.  Legal History (pictured above) was very impressive last time out at Ascot and he looks to have a very good chance of following up in the 2.40pm.  He carries a 7lbs penalty for that success but is still 6lbs ahead of the handicapper and a follow-up looks to be on the cards.

Mrs Miggins has to shoulder top weight of 11-13 in the 2m7f handicap hurdle at 3.40pm.  She has been very consistent and keeps reaching the frame, including when third last time out at Taunton.  She has place claims once again.  Hot Ryan contests the second division of the staying handicap hurdle at 4.10pm and she ran her best race to date when third over course and distance.  She is only lightly raced and open to further improvement and this sound surface should suit so a good show is expected.

Midnight Magic is our final runner of the day in the 3m handicap chase at 5.15pm.  Our seven year old has more ability than he has shown on the track thus far and would have claims on the best of his form.  This better ground may help and regular rider David Noonan is in the saddle.

I don't know how some jockeys and trainers cars were broken into during the Grand National meeting.  I parked in the same car park as they did and noticed that there were officials all over the place.  Mind you, I suppose the car park was the size of about ten football pitches!

Talking of football, it is the Champions League tonight and Tottenham Hotspur take on Manchester City at 8pm on BT Sport.  Spurs are 10/3 and they look worth a little wager to give me an interest.  Bristol City also look worth a punt to beat West Brom in their Championship match tonight.

There are only two days to go until the start of the Masters at Augusta and I was interested to hear that Tommy Fleetwood was not in the least bit excited about finishing runner-up in the competition.  Of course, everyone wants to win but these players have so much money that it means nothing to them any more.

Jimmy 'Whirlwind' White is in action tomorrow in the World Championship snooker qualifiers as he takes on a player 39 years his junior.  I hope he wins, but the trouble is when you have been as good as Jimmy, you have to know when to call it a day.  I still remember when he was the young up and coming sensation - where does the time go?

With the Masters just around the corner, I may just go for a round of golf myself today...It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do!
