The stable enjoyed a nice winner at our local track Taunton yesterday afternoon when Eur Gone West (pictured above) scored like a good thing in the three mile handicap hurdle.  Although he had to carry a 7lbs penalty, he was still 7lbs ahead of the handicapper and despite jumping out to his right in the straight, he came right away to score by 26 lengths under David Noonan.  It would be great if all the good things won like that!  I can't believe that he was sent off at 6/4 when he had been odds-on overnight.  I was especially pleased for his owner Jane Gerard-Pearse who is a lovely lady and has been a long-standing supporter of the yard.  Eur Gone West looks like he is improving fast and should be winning again.

I thought that Kemboy was seriously impressive in the Bowl at Aintree yesterday, sprinting away from his rivals from the last under a very confident Ruby Walsh.  I wonder what would have happened if he had not parted company with his jockey at the first fence in the Cheltenham Gold Cup?

The weather looked terrible at Aintree yesterday with it seemingly raining all day.  It certainly seemed to get into the ground with the runners all seeming to finish very tired.  Hopefully it will dry up over the next couple of days - it is lady's day today so the girls won't want to be covering up!

There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with jumps cards from Aintree and Sedgefield as well as flat cards from Leicester and Wolverhampton.  It is the second day of Aintree's Grand National meeting and there is an excellent card to look forward to including the Melling Chase and Topham Chase.  If you are thinking of having a bet in the Topham I wish you luck - there are 30 runners competing over 2m5f of the Grand National course and the bookmakers go 8/1 the field.  Kilcrea Vale looks sure to go well and at odds of around 16/1, that will give me an interest.

I am looking forward to the Southampton versus Liverpool match tonight on Sky Sports although I don't think I will be having a wager.  Liverpool are 4/9 shots and I am not sure they should be that short.  Liverpool would be the agents favourites this season after handing out £43.8 million.  Do agents really earn that much money?  In all, Premier League sides paid out £261 million to agents.  I was definitely in the wrong line of work!

A new name for you to look out for is Alice Hewson who will be part of history when she made the cut at Champion's Retreat and the final round will see women play Augusta for the first time.

What's easy to get into but difficult to get out of?  Trouble (and I should know!).  Have a nice day...
