One Wincanton Runner

There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with jumps cards from Wincanton and Carlisle as well as flat cards from Southwell and Chelmsford.  David has one runner today as Mr Clarkson (pictured above) contests the 2m5½f handicap hurdle at 2.10pm.  Our seven year old won four times in 2017 although he has not reproduced that form in two starts since an absence.  He is now on a decent mark although he would have to improve on recent outings.  David Noonanis in the saddle and will be hoping for a step back in the right direction today.  Tom Scudamore has to wait until the last race of the day before he picks up a spare ride on Who Shot JR...no that's not an 80's US drama trivia question, that is the name of his horse!

Following the small fields, bookmaker Keith Ruddick only stayed for one race at Fontwell yesterday, taking three bets for £30 before he decided to head to Kempton instead.  There were only 13 bookmakers, 27 runners and 250 racegoers.  Admission was reduced accordingly - it is just a shame that it has reached this point.

Manchester United recorded their best result since 1999 when they beat Paris St Germain 3-1, winning on away goals.  What on earth was Mourinho doing at United for all that time?  I can't believe that Real Madrid or any other top club would want him now.  At the moment Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is the best thing that has happened to the team in a long while - double his wages and sign him up!

There are a couple of European matches on tonight so I will be trying to get my money back!  Arsenal are 17/16 to beat Rennes and I will be having a cheeky little double on them and Napoli at 1/2.

Reading between the line of Andy Murray's interview yesterday, I am not sure that he fully believes he will be fit to play at Wimbledon this season.  In fact, he was talking about just contesting the doubles.  It would be terrible if he played and started to lose to players he would have annihilated at his best.
