         Airton - Winner at Taunton

What a result at Taunton yesterday for the stable with Airton winning first time out over hurdles in the novice hurdle.  He jumped very well and was backed early from 33/1 down to 20/1 and I did say he had each way claims yesterday morning!  He looks a good buy from the Newmarket October sales at £14,000.  There is a half share in him still available so if anyone is interested please do get in touch!  He also looks like he will appreciate a longer trip over hurdles in time as he did win over 2 miles on the flat.  He is not over big but he has a very likeable attitude and hopefully there is plenty more to come.  I bet there were a few drinks and celebrations in owner Keith Webb's own pub last night!!

I must say that Taunton put on a good show yesterday for the children as it was half term.  There was plenty for them to do including ferret racing, meeting the hounds and also the chance to be a jockey on the mechanical horse!  I highly recommend anyone having a go on a mechanical horse if you get the chance, it is not quite as easy as it might look!

Today there are five meetings, two jumps cards at Ludlow and Doncaster plus three flat meetings as Wolverhampton, Chelmsford and Newcastle.  David does not have any runners but I see that Tom Scu is off to Ludlow.

I also see the papers are currently full of adverts for Cheltenham preview nights and there seems to be more than ever!.  David is doing one at Taunton racecourse and I believe there are tickets available through the Taunton racecourse website should anyone like to go.  They are normally good fun and quite entertaining.

The big football match tonight is Schalke versus Man City.  City are 7/2 on and I think I will just watch this one on BT Sport at 8pm.  Liverpool were held to a 0-0 draw at home against Bayern Munich last night but did have plenty on chances to score.  It will be a tricky away leg next time.

The cricket starts again in the West Indies today.  There are five One Day matches and England are big odds on to win and are 9/2 on today.  Mind you they were odds on to win the TEst series!  I shall be tuning into the action.

Boxing these days seems to be more about the publicity rather than the actual boxing match.  I see that Anthony Joshua's next opponent, Jarrell Miller is being branded as an uncle Tom and a "pothead".  I suppose it will sell more seats!

Where does Tarzan buy his clothes?  At a jungle sale!  Have a nice day.
