Picture Painter finished 3rd at Wolverhampton

With Fakenham having already been abandoned this morning it does not look too good for the other jumps card at Wincanton but we shall keep our fingers crossed.  Temperatures are still -5 here at Pond House this morning at 7.30am so things will need to warm up a bit!  David does not have any runners today.  There are two all-weather meetings today at Southwell and Newcastle to keep us going anyway.  Southwell have managed to get away with just £39,000 of prize money for there entire card.  Picture Painter ran a good race at Wolverhampton yesterday to finish a close third.  He carried top weight and was given a good ride by Finley Marsh and he should be capable of winning a race or two on this evidence.

It was a fairy tale at Lingfield yesterday when trainer Cliff Lines signed of his training career with a winner.  He is 84 on 14th February and has been in racing for 70 years.  You could not have written the script better as it had been 559 days since his last winner.  You could say he has been catapulted out of being a trainer and that was the name of his horse!

It is Jamie Moore's birthday today and he is 34 so I would like to wish him a very happy birthday.  Jamie was based here at Pond House when he first started out and he was a thoroughly good bloke and not a bad jockey either!

I think this cold weather is affecting some of the football results!  Bournemouth beat Chelsea 4--0 last night and Leicester got a 1-1 draw with Liverpool at Anfield.  Meanwhile I see in Italy that footballer Edin Dzeko is facing a long ban after looking like he spat in the referees face after he got sent off when his team Roma were getting beaten 7-1 by Fiorentina in the Italian Cup.  If it is true then I would ban him for a whole season, you simply cannot do things like that.

The second cricket test match starts today at 2pm.  Joe Denley will become the oldest player to win his first test cap at 32.  Let's hope he can score a few runs.  The West Indies bowlers proved much too good for our batsmen in the first test so hopefully we can do  better this time.

Why was the computer so tired when it got home? Because it had a hard drive!
