There are just two meetings taking place this afternoon, but at least they are both over the jumps with the action coming from Fontwell and Sedgefield.  David Noonan has picked up three outside rides at Fontwell, whilst it looks as though Tom Scu has decided to take the day off.  There are big fields over in Ireland where there is a good looking card at Naas which features a couple of Grade 3 contests.

Talking of Ireland, Presenting Percy was a ready winner of his seasonal reappearance earlier in the week over hurdles at Gowran Park.  The Gold Cup contender did win well without having a hard race and he looks a worthy favourite at this stage, although there is still plenty of time between now and then and plenty can still happen.

We are certainly getting some strange weather at the moment.  Doncaster put 40mm of water on their course last week but the ground was still riding fast as Cracking Find still managed to beat the standard time.  Either he is some sort of superstar, or the ground is still pretty quick...probably the latter.

Where I live in Brixham we had a frost one day and then it was 10ºc the next...mind you, it helps our local golf course so that can't be a bad thing!

There is a good local derby taking place this afternoon as Crystal Palace take on Spurs at 4pm.  Spurs are 17/10 chances to win and that looks a fair price to me.  It looks as though Spurs have signed a new player; midfielder Adrien Rablot from Paris Saint-Germain for £20 million.  I thought they would have invested in another striker with Harry Kane on the sidelines.  In the other match Chelsea take on Sheffield Wednesday and the blues should win, although they are too short to be backing.

I have been watching the golf at the Farmers Tournament in America.  It seems that Rory McIlroy is having real trouble putting from distances of about six feet.  He seems to be missing more than he is making which is never a good thing for someone of his standing.  Lee Westwood seems to be having the same sort of trouble - if he had made a few more from this sort of distance, goodness knows how many more tournaments he would have won.

What do you call an expensive car with a cheap name?  A Poorsche!  Keep smiling...
