      Daklondike runs at Haydock today

Today there are five meetings, jumps cards at Ascot, Haydock and Taunton plus flat cards at Lingfield and Wolverhampton.  David has runners at Haydock and Taunton.  Daklondike runs in the 3.15 Peter Marsh handicap chase at Haydock.  It looks a very competitive race even though the original favourite Valtor is now a non-runner.  Daklondike won at the track just before Christmas and although he is a little quirky he will appreciate the extra distance today and we are hopeful of a big run.  Tom Scu rides.

David has two runners at Taunton.  Ourmullion runs in the 1.40 novice hurdle and is making his debut over obstacles.  There is a highly rated horse in the race Thomas Darby and this is the one they all have to beat.  Ourmullion is a five time winner on the flat and he ran well on his stable debut to finish a close fourth on the all-weather.  He has schooled well at home and has David Noonan on board.  Jasmin Des Bordes runs in the 3.25pm, a national hunt novices hurdle over 2m3f.  He has been placed for us in a bumper and over hurdles last time showing a good level of form and he looks to have a fair chance with David Noonan in the saddle.

Altior runs at Ascot today in a 3 runner race and he is 8/1 on in the Racing Post.  The third horse will get £16,050 if they can jump around!  Altior is going for his 17th straight win.  Do these uncompetitive races do anything for racing?  I just hope all is well with the horse and he goes and wins.  The Henderson team report they have concerns about the health of some of their horses  so let's hope they are all okay today.

Terry Ramsden has his birthday today and he is 67.  He was a big punter and he had a horse at Pond House.  Happy Birthday Terry!

In the football there is a big local derby as Arsenal play Chelsea at 5.30pm.  They go 21/10 Arsenal.  Newcastle could beat Cardiff at 28/20 and Wolves are 13/10 to beat Leicester.

Judd Trump played some great snooker to beat World number 1 Mark Selby at the Ally Pally to put himself in the semi final for a fourth time.  Selbby said "Judd had been working on his safety game" and it did show.

Why didn't the piglets listen to their father?  Because he was a boar!  Have a nice day.
