There are three meetings taking place this afternoon with jumps cards from Chepstow and Musselburgh as well as an all-weather flat card from Wolverhampton.  David has three runners at Chepstow today; Druide Premier, Friday Night Light and Picture Painter.  Druide Premier contests the 2m maiden hurdle at 1.40pm and our six year old has some fair placed form in bumpers, although would need to improve on his most recent efforts over hurdles to figure here.  Friday Night Light and Picture Painter contest the competitive 2m3½f handicap hurdle at 3.50pm.  Tom Scudamore is aboard Friday Night Light (pictured above) and he carries 11-11.  This race is easier than some of those he has been contesting and has each-way chances, whilst Picture Painter has disappointed on his last few starts but is at least down to his last winning mark.  David Noonan takes the ride.

What a good round of jumping from Master Dino at Plumpton yesterday.  He is now 6/1 favourite for the JLT novices' chase at the Cheltenham Festival in March.  I was surprised you could get odds against about him at Plumpton - he jumped well and always looked the likeliest winner.  Does it sound like I had a few quid on?!

I see that it is Bernard Parkin's 89th birthday today.  I have loads of sketches that this tremendously talented man has done down the years, including one of me sitting on a horse with MCP taking the mickey.  Bernard was also Cheltenham's racecourse photographer for many years.  Many happy returns Bernard!

I watched Newport beat Leicester yesterday in their FA Cup match.  It was a really exciting game with Leicester squandering a hat full of chances.  I think I would be worried if I were the Leicester boss.  Meanwhile, I see that Wayne Rooney is in trouble in America for being drunk and swearing in pubic.  So what's new?  Most of these footballers don't realise how lucky they are.  I see organisers are threatening to pull the plug on his gala dinner at Wembley - have the dinner but no drinks allowed...another problem solved!  You're welcome.

Wolves take on Liverpool tonight and it will be interesting to see what sort of side Liverpool turn out.  Regardless, I think I will be helping myself to a little bit of the even money.
