There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with jumps cards from Lingfield (who need to pass an early morning inspection) and Wetherby whilst there are a couple of all-weather flat meetings from Kempton and Wolverhampton.  There are no runners from Pond House today although stable jockeys Tom Scudamore and David Noonan have picked up outside rides at Lingfield and Tom looks to have a decent chance in the 1.30pm race aboard Dalkadam.

Great Tempo finished third in the amateur and conditional jockeys' handicap chase at Ludlow yesterday, running another respectable race.  He is certainly capable of winning something similar when things go his way.

The next runners from the stable will come tomorrow when Rathlin Rose will take in the highly competitive and very valuable veterans' final at his beloved Sandown.

What a good result for Manchester City as they beat Liverpool 2-1 last night.  That means that Liverpool are now only four points ahead at the top of the table so things are certainly much tighter.  Meanwhile, Manchester United are now only six points off of a top four spot and that would be something of a fairy story if they were able to grab one of those spots.

I see that British number one tennis player Kyle Edmund will miss the Sydney International tournament with a knee problem.  Pair that with Andy Murray's continuing ailments and we would struggle to turn out a decent tennis team right now.
