Tempo Runs At Ludlow

There are three meetings taking place this afternoon with a jumps card from Ludlow supported by a couple of all-weather flat fixtures from Southwell and Chelmsford.  David has a runner at Ludlow; Great Tempo who contests the amateur riders and conditional jockeys' hands and heels handicap chase over three miles.  Our six year old has to shoulder top weight but he has been fairly consistent this season and Fergus Gillard claims a handy 5lbs off his back.  He is capable of going well although is perhaps not one to have your last fiver on.  Meanwhile, David Noonan has picked up a couple of outside rides at the meeting.

China are set to host five exhibition races on 23rd March.  It is amazing to think that they do not have horse racing in China.  There will be no betting as that is against the law in mainland China which in itself is incredible given the proximity to Hong Kong.  They will bet on anything that moves there!

I see that one of the leading juveniles in France is due to run at Plumpton on Sunday.  Master Dino is set to make his second start over fences in the novices' chase over 2m3½f.  If he wins he could try for a £60,000 bonus at the Cheltenham Festival in March.  He is trained by Guillaume Macaire who stayed with us at Pond House many years ago - his yard is actually on a racecourse.  It could end up being a hot race as Gordon Elliott also has entries in the race.

Does football get any better than the match between the top two teams in the Premier League?  Liverpool take on Manchester City at 8pm live on Sky Sports.  They are both such good attacking sides that there have to be some goals.  Liverpool look like a big price at 13/5.

Tennis legend Roger Federer received a handsome compliment from Serena Williams when she said, "The guy is great, the greatest of all time to be honest"...and just think, he only won a mixed doubles match against her!
