Know the Score - Winner at Hexham

It was great to get a winner at Hexham yesterday with Know the Score.  It certainly made the long journey worthwhile and he looked to win with a bit in hand.  He is a lovely prospect going forward especially when stamina comes into play later down the line. He has a bright future.  Jacbequick ran another good race to finish second at Leicester and the horses remain in good form.

Today we have four meetings, jumps cards at Taunton, Warwick and Newcastle plus a flat card at Chelmsford.  David has runners at Warwick and Taunton.  I will start with Warwick and we have Teaser in the first race at 12.15, a juvenile maiden hurdle.  He has had one run and finished second at Wincanton on firm ground.  He should improve for that experience and his the winner of a Leicester seller on the flat on his penultimate run.  Easter Eric runs in the 12.50pm maiden hurdle over 2m5f.  Our four year old has had just three runs so far and was third in a Bumper before two respectable efforts in hurdle races at Aintree and Ascot.  He has improved with every run and although he does have to improve again to feature in the race he is a lovely young horse and it would not be a surprise. Irish Prince runs in the handicap hurdle at 2.30pm.  He ran a good race in his first handicap back in June to finish a very close second.  He has had a little break since then and returns in good form at home and fingers crossed he should run well.  Tom Scu rides all of our runners at Warwick.

David has four runners at our local track Taunton this afternoon.  Druide Premier runs in the first race there at 12.35pm.  He has had three runs in his life and has finished third in all three of those races!  He was third behind Southfield Stone who runs again this afternoon last time out in his first try over hurdles.  He has to give us a penalty this time which should help us get closer and he looks to have each way claims at 10/1.  Just Midas runs in the second division of the novice hurdle.  He returns from a break and is a big price as he does need to improve on the form he has shown so far to feature.  Delface runs in the third race, a handicap hurdle over 2 miles.  He won a Ffos Las novice hurdle last year and does have some pieces of form that give him a chance in this.  He returns from a break and has a good each way chance.  Percy Street runs in the 2.45pm handicap hurdle over 2m3f.  His debut for Pond House came at Royal Ascot back in June where he ran a super race at a very big price in the Ascot Stakes.  We were all getting quite excited at one stage!!  He has had a break since then and returns to a track on which he has won at before.  He is quite a big price but he will enjoy conditions and he has an each way chance.  David Noonan rides all of our runners at Taunton.

I would like to finish by wishing John Francome a very happy birthday.  He is 66 today.  He always looks after MCP and myself when we venture up to Lambourn.  He was a great jockey, great character and great storyteller.
