There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with jumps cards from Sandown, Exeter and Sedgefield as well as an all-weather flat card from Kempton.  We have had loads of rain in the west country so if you are thinking of going to the races make sure you pack your welly boots.  I will be making a rare visit today, I don't go as often as I used to so if you see me, come over and say hello (unless I owe you money!).  David has runners at Sandown and Exeter today.  Warthog makes his chasing debut in the 2m4f handicap chase at 1.55pm at Sandown.  He was a winner of an Irish point-to-point and had some decent placed form over hurdles, although he has always looked like a chaser in the making.  David Noonan is in the saddle and he looks to have place claims.  Our other runner at Sandown is Malangen who contests the 2m handicap hurdle at 3.30pm - he has run some sound races in defeat and would have a chance on the best of his form, although this will be the softest surface he will have encountered.

Over at Exeter we run the very promising Remastered (pictured above) who contests the 2m1f National Hunt novices' hurdle at 1.30pm.  He has looked very useful in winning a bumper and a hurdle since joining the stable, the form of which has been well advertised since.  Both of his wins have come on heavy ground so all of the rain will do nothing to harm his chances and he looks very much the one to beat.

Jasmin des Bordes runs in the bumper at 3.40pm.  He has finished runner-up in his only start in an Irish point-to-point on yielding ground so he stays well and that is going to be important today.  Whilst we will know more about him after today, I reckon he will go well under Tom Scudamore.

At Leicester yesterday Ekayburg finished third in the novices' hurdle after looking the likeliest winner for much of the way.  Miro was also third, staying on well and he looks capable of winning something similar in due course.

There is a local Midlands derby today with West Brom versus Aston Villa.  Villa could be worth an interest at 21/10.  Meanwhile, all is not well over at Manchester United where they are lining up a £40 million bid to make Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino their next boss.  I wonder how much Mourinho will get in compensation?

I think the FA should look at Daniel Sturridge's dive in the match against Burnley.  He wasn't touched but went down like a dying swan.  He was trying to cheat and I agree with Burnley manager Sean Dyche that he should be facing a ban for his actions.

Did you hear about the dog who went to the flea circus and stole the show!
