There are five meetings taking place this afternoon with jumps cards from Ayr, Taunton and Warwick as well as all-weather flat action from Chelmsford City and Kempton.  David has runners at our local track, Taunton.  Druide Premier, a full-brother to Dynaste contests the National Hunt novices' hurdle at 12.25pm.  He has finished in the frame in his two bumpers and he has schooled well at home, although this does look like a very competitive race for the track.  Mrs Miggins runs in the 3m novices' handicap hurdle at 1.35pm - she has finished in the frame on three of her four starts to date and looks as though she will appreciate this step-up in trip and she should be thereabouts.  We have two runners in the 2m handicap hurdle at 2.40pm; Jacbequick and Picture Painter.  Jacbequick will find this considerably easier than at Cheltenham, while Picture Painter needs to improve on his latest start - they are ridden by Tom Scudamore and David Noonan respectively.

What can I say about yesterday's runners at Wetherby?  Extra Mag looked like a quality horse in the novices' hurdle on his first start for the stable.  It looked like a hot race beforehand and he travelled into contention beautifully and was a couple of lengths clear when stumbling on landing at the last and giving Tom Scudamore little chance of staying aboard.  He was most unlucky here but looks like a very nice horse for the future who can go on to better things.

Stream Lady also ran okay in the big field bumper.  She was right in contention but just kept going at the one pace in the closing stages and this former Irish point winner looks as though she will benefit from a longer trip.

There was a great result for Spurs last night as they beat Inter Milan 1-0 in their Champions League match to go second in Group B.  Chelsea play tonight but do not offer much value at odds of around 1/3.  Arsenal play away to Vorskla Poltava and the Gunners look comfortable at the top of Group E.

Tiger Woods has vowed to take it easier.  If he wins his own event; the Hero World Challenge this week he will jump to number six in the world.  I wonder what he would be like if he had to get a real job?  Imagine him as a stable lad...that would sort him out!

My brother came over to borrow the lawn mower the other day.  I told him she was still sleeping and should come back again in about an hour!
