Exciting Dual Purpose Prospect

I thought that Remastered (pictured above) was a really impressive winner of the two mile novices' hurdle at Ffos Las yesterday afternoon.  He jumped really well for his hurdling debut and he looks like a chaser in the making.  In the meantime, I reckon it is going to take a very good horse to beat him, especially when there is plenty of cut in the ground.  He also looks like he will have little trouble getting further.  It was the quickest time of the day and he rates an exciting prospect.  Over at Sandown, Rathlin Rose performed creditably on his seasonal debut in the veterans' chase to finish fourth, although he would probably have preferred a softer surface and may be a bit sharper next time out.  I think these veterans' races are a great idea - they are well funded, competitive and give these older campaigners a chance of winning a decent race without fear of bumping into a progressive youngster who is ahead of the handicapper.

There are three meetings taking place this afternoon with jumps cards from Carlisle and Kempton and an all-weather flat card from Southwell.  David has one runner at Kempton today as Celestial Path contests the 2m conditional jockeys' handicap hurdle at 4.00pm.  He has won twice on good ground, although he was disappointing from a revised mark last time out and remains 8lbs higher than when last successful.  The track should suit and his chance will improve if the weather remains dry - Kieron Edgar is in the saddle.

Manchester City looked completely different class to United at the weekend, winning 3-1.  It should have been 5 or 6 goals to City if they converted their chances and it would appear that United need five new defenders, two new strikers and three midfielders...I would only keep the goalkeeper!  United had one shot at goal and that was a penalty.  The first thing they need to do is sort their manager out...remember, he brought some of these players in.

I watched Oleksandr stop Tony Bellew in the boxing and he now wants to fight Anthony Joshua for the world heavyweight title.  The Ukranian would need to put on a couple of stone to fight Joshua who looks like a good world champion to me.

How well did golfer Lee Westwood play in South Africa?!  He was landing his first title in four years and shot an amazing score of 64 in the final round to beat Sergio Garcia.  We see Lee quite often at some of the race meetings as he is a keen racegoer and owner.

Did you hear about the dyslexic IT technician?  He waited ages for a USB and then two came along at once!
