There are four meetings taking place this afternoon and the action is all on the flat from Musselburgh, Windsor, Yarmouth and Kempton.  Unsurprisingly there are no runners from Pond House today.  I see that a former member of staff, Andrew Glassonbury completed the course in the Velka Pardubick over 4m2½f at the weekend, finishing 9th.  It is held over a gruelling course in the Czech Republic and it has been won by a Czech trained horse for the last 13 years...sounds like a bit of a home field advantage.  This year the winner was Tzigane du Berlais.

I see that it is Reg Lomas MBE's 87th birthday today.  Reg was the head groundsman at Cheltenham many years ago and I can always remember Peter Scudamore asking Reg where the best ground was and that would be the route that he would take.

Nine year old Curtis Murphy (son of Timmy) was the winner of the Shetland Grand National in a photo finish at Chepstow.  He was wearing the famous colours of the late David Johnson.  Timmy said that Curtis wants to be a flat jockey so it sounds like he has brains as well.

England take on Spain tonight at 7.45pm on Sky Sports.  England are 5/1 chances and the papers are all going on about how much England have improved.  They didn't look like they had improved that much the other night.  You can back Spain at 4/5 and they look the likeliest winners to me, mind you I don't like betting against England.

What a great win for golfer Eddie Pepperell when he landed the Sky Sports British Masters.  Not only did he make a hole in one, he also holed out for an eagle at the tenth hole from 122 yards away.  He picked up a cheque for £500,000...not a bad four days work!

My chiropractor said that I needed a posture alignment but I think that she was just pulling my leg!  Have a nice day...
