Future Changes

Today we have four meetings, flat cards at Ayr and Chelmsford plus jumps cards at Bangor and Worcester.  David does not have any runners today but Tom Scu goes to Bangor for a couple of rides and his ride for Gordon Elliott in the first looks to have a good chance.  Tom rode a nice winner for his brother at Southwell yesterday.  David Noonan has two rides at Worcester but they both are outsiders in the field.  I see we could have different colour hurdles and fences in the future.  Exeter University has been doing some research and they have come up with the idea that horses see fluorescent yellow and white better than the orange currently used.  I think anything that is better for the safety of horses and jockey's has got to be a good thing.  There is going to be a trial so we will have to await the results of that before we could see any changes on racecourses in the future.

It was an up and down day for birthday boy Michael Bell yesterday on his 58th birthday.  He had a birthday winner at Nottingham but he was also fined £290 for failing to notify the Racing Calendar Office of Artairs wind operation until after declarations for the race had closed.  I bet he will remember this birthday!

I see the Princess Royal had a winner at Southwell yesterday.  It was her first winner for 31 years!  Her last winner was one she actually rode!  That was in September 1987 when she rode Cnoc Na Cuille to victory at Worcester.  I hope she celebrated well last night!

Scotland and Wales play their International football matches today.  Scotland look to have the best chance of winning and they are best priced 8/5.  Wales play Spain and they will do well to stop Spain scoring a few goals.

Tennis player Jo Konta is searching for her fourth coach in three years.  Our former World number 4 has failed to get past the second round of her last five grand slams.  I wonder if she has ever thought that maybe it is her and not the coach?!

You can tell an ants gender by putting it in water.  If it sinks it is a girl and and if it floats it 's buoyant!!  Have a nice day.
