There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with flat cards from Brighton and Kempton as well as jumps fixtures from Hexham and Worcester.  Well done to the jumps tracks who have managed to provide better prize money than either of the flat courses.  There is one runner from the stable today as Midnight Sapphire (pictured above) contests the 2m7f handicap hurdle at Worcester at 4.20pm.  She ran a lovely first race for the stable after a long absence when runner-up at Newton Abbot last month and she is entitle to improve for the outing.  She is 5lbs higher today but a repeat of that last effort would see her right there again under Tom Scudamore.

Whenever I go into my local betting shop it never fails to amaze me how many people are in there playing those machines.  Even more amazingly, some people seem to think that there is an element of skill involved rather than it being completely down to chance.  Did you know that in Britain there are 430,000 with a gambling problem and these roulette machines are accelerating the problem.  I am glad to say that I am not one of those people.

We are the champions!  Perhaps I am getting a little carried away after my beloved West Ham beat a very poor Everton side 3-1 at the weekend.  Luckily we have Arnautovic and Yarmolenko - what a present for manager Pellegrini who was 65...mind you, he looks older than that!  The big match today is between Southampton and Brighton on Sky Sports at 8pm.  The 11/10 available about Southampton will do for me.

Lewis Hamilton extended his lead at the head of the drivers' championship with victory in the Singapore Grand Prix.  In the previous ten days he had travelled 25,000 miles to promote his new Tommy Hilfiger fashion range.

Ronnie O'Sullivan won his third Shanghai Masters at the weekend and promptly gave the trophy away to a random Chinese girl.  He wasn't so quick to hand over the £200,000 winners cheque though, tightwad!

Me and my brother inherited some furniture from the local zoo...I'm glad to say I got the lion's chair!
