The team enjoyed a nice winner on the flat at Ffos Las yesterday when Jacbequick (pictured above) ran out a ready winner of the 1m2f handicap, completing a hat-trick in the process.  What a good buy he was having been obtained from a Beverley claimer last time out.  He won this contest with a bit in hand under apprentice jockey Finley Marsh and I wouldn't be surprised to see him turned out again shortly under a penalty whilst he is in such good form.  He should have no trouble winning over hurdles either based on this evidence.  David has shown it time and time again, that you do not have to spend a fortune to have winners.  He has some nice horses for sale at the yard, details of which can be found on our horses for sale page.

They tell me that there weren't many people at Ffos Las yesterday which is hardly surprising as it was a replacement meeting for a Chepstow fixture that had to be abandoned.  There were only four bookmakers at the meeting and it begs the question, do we really need replacement meetings?  In my opinion there are already too many fixtures and it is damaging the overall depth of races.

There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with flat cards from Goodwood, Kempton and Leicester as well as a jumps card from Stratford.  There are no runners from Pond House today, although Tom Scudamore and David Noonan have both picked up outside rides at Stratford.

I see that the stewards have reversed the £140 fine they imposed on Peter Hedger after one of his employees tried to help out trainer Ian Williams with a horse that was reluctant to go to the start by squirting a bit of water at it.  Hedger said, "If they weren't in the office and came out into the real world and worked with horses they would see what goes on".  I have known Peter for over 50 years and he certainly wouldn't do anything to harm a horse.

It is a shame that former England cricket captain Alistair Cook has retired from international cricket.  He was a great skipper and has scored more test runs than any other England player by quite some considerable margin.  He scored over 12,200 runs, while next on the list came Graham Gooch with 8,900...quite some performance.

Golfer Bryson Dechambeau was the winner of the second Fed Ex Cup at the weekend.  He is the player who has clubs that are all the same length.  Justin Rose finished in second place.

Thought for the day...it doesn't matter how many times a married man changes his job - he always finishes up with the same boss!  Keep smiling...
