There are seven meetings taking place this afternoon with five cards on the level from Chepstow, Doncaster, Newbury, Newmarket and Ripon, while there are jumps fixtures from Market Rasen and Perth. David has a couple of runners today, Dell' Arca on the flat, while recent arrival Dream Free runs over the sticks. David purchased Dream Free after scoring in good style in a Beverley seller and he reverts to hurdles today in the hands and heels selling hurdle for conditional and amateur jockeys in the 4.55pm race at Market Rasen. He has had one run over hurdles and was pulled up but the balance of his flat form would suggest that he is capable of significantly better than that. Mr Connor Brace takes the ride and he probably has Cliffside Park to beat. Meanwhile, Dell' Arca contests the lady amateur riders' race on the level at Newbury at 5.15pm. He has been a cracking servant over hurdles and fences and is fit (having won at Uttoxeter three weeks ago) despite not having run on the flat since June 2016. He could yet prove well-treated from a mark of 76 and has each way claims under Miss Siobhan Doolan.

Just think, if you were a bookmaker at Wolverhampton on Thursday you would have been on the end of a rare old hiding after all six favourites obliged. It's all swings and roundabouts I guess as the following day all seven market leaders were turned over. Having said that, I am sure it would have been worse if there had been racegoers at the meeting! Mark Johnston needs just three more winners to become the most successful trainer in British racing history. He had a winner last night with Rufus King so it could happen today as he has nine runners across the country.

I have just thought of a good sporting match that would make a lot of money...forget all these heavyweights...what about Danny Cipriani versus Ben Stokes in a boxing match?! I should have been a boxing promoter. Talking of boxing, Tyson Fury and Carl Frampton are both on the card at Windsor Park tonight - it starts at 7.45pm on BT Sport - I still find it hard to take Fury seriously. I will be having a little wager on West Ham at 23/20, Leicester at 11/10 and Everton at 10/11 to give me an interest today.

I was down my local boozer the other night when the landlord gave me a pint of gravel. I said, "What is that for?" He replied, "One for the road!" Have a great weekend...
