Today we have six meetings all on the flat at Nottingham, Newbury, Wolverhampton, Chelmsford, Newmarket and Catterick.  It is amazing that the all-weather meeting at Chelmsford has the most prize money on offer of £132,000.  The other sad news about racecourses is that we could lose another racetrack.  Towcester is in crisis at the moment.  Their greyhound meeting that was due to take place tonight does not take place.  Their next racing fixtures are October, November and December.  They are hoping there will be significant interest from potential acquirers.  The problem being to me, if you are not making money then who will want to buy it?!  Remember it was where AP rode his 4000th winner and I know lots of trainers like the track with it's stiff uphill finish.

Could we see another Fallon as a champion jockey?  Kieron's son Cieren makes his riding debut at Newmarket tonight.  The 18 year old rides Rivers of Asia in a 1m2f handicap.  Everyone will already be comparing him to his dad, give the boy time!

I see that Annabel Neasham who is from Bicester has won the Mongol Derby.  It is the World's longest horse race of 1000km.  The route is the same one that Genghis Khan took in the 13th century.  Not a lot of people know that!  I can remember Steve Cauthen moaning about the 2 mile race he won on Baron Blakeney at Epsom.  He struggled to carry his saddle back!  I am not sure he would be keen on riding in the Mongol Derby!

It seems like alcohol is causing more trouble.  England rugby manager Eddie Jones has said he has three games to save his England jersey.  I think he was lucky to get away with a £2,250 fine.

If you want to get on the pitch at Spurs new stadium all you have to be is a sparky.  You can get three months work if you are an electrician.  That will be a shock to some of their supporters!
