There are six meetings taking place this afternoon with flat cards from Goodwood, Thirsk, Newmarket, Musselburgh and Wolverhampton as well as a jumps fixtures from Bangor On Dee.  Tom Scudamore has picked up three outside rides and a couple of them look to have sound chances so hopefully he will be on the mark there.  Meanwhile, Glorious Goodwood continues and the big race of the day is the Group 2 King George Qatar Stakes at 3.35pm.  The favourite for this five furlong sprint is Battaash and if he runs anywhere near his best then he would take the world of beating.

Her Majesty the Queen looks to have an excellent chance of winning the Golden Mile with Seniority ridden by Ryan Moore.  I wonder if it means anything to the jockeys about who the top rider at the meeting is?  As things stand, Silvestre de Sousa is joint-top at present and guess what?  He's riding at Thirsk!  It must mean more to the papers than it does to the jockeys.

The cricket took an interesting turn yesterday with England getting the better of day two and finishing up with a very small first innings lead.  It is lucky for India that they have the best batsman in the world at present.  Virat Kohil scored a brilliant 149 after being dropped on 21 and 51...it could have been a very different story for England.  Let's hope England can make a big score with the bat today.

New Derby boss Frank Lampard takes his team to Reading today.  Derby have done everything right in their pre-season friendlies so they look worth a bet at odds of 7/5.  Frank has the whole team playing well and his arrival certainly seems to have given the whole place a lift.

I wonder what Las Vegas will make of Tyson Fury?  He fights Deontay Wilder this December.  This will show if Fury is still as good as he has been telling everyone that he is.  I'm not so sure that he is as good as he thinks he is - mind you, I wouldn't be in a hurry to say that to his face!

I think the greatest trick that David Copperfield ever performed was getting Charles Dickens to write a book about him before he was born!  Have a nice day...
