There are six meetings taking place this afternoon with flat cards from Ascot, Thirsk, York, Newmarket and Chepstow while there is a jump fixture at Uttoxeter.  David has one runner at Uttoxeter; Druide Premier who contests the 2m bumper at 5.05pm.  He has had just one lifetime start to date, showing a good deal of promise when third in a similar contest at Newton Abbot.  He will have learned plenty from that experience and can only improve.  The Henderson trained runner, Full Bore looks to be the one to beat, although as a winner he has to concede a penalty all round.  A good effort is expected from our runner with Tom Scudamore in the saddle.

While I was down the gallops a couple of days ago I was able to get some great shots of the horses during exercise.  Pictured above is recent dual-hurdle winner Celestial Path in action under David Noonan.  He is clearly in fine fettle, loves the prevailing ground and could be out again before long.

I see that the Bath fixture that was originally scheduled for 3rd August has been moved to Wolverhampton due to the hard ground.  I always thought that as soon as the word 'hard' appeared in any going description they could not race.  Obviously I am wrong as there were hard patches at the last meeting.

Many happy returns to Conor O'Farrell who is 29 years old today.  Conor rode plenty of big race winners for the stable including Buena Vista at the Cheltenham Festival, Minella Four Star in the Midlands National and Dynaste in the Fixed Brush Hurdle to name a few.  Conor is now living and riding up north and continuing to do well.  We hope you have a great day!

I have often said that being a football manager must be one of the best jobs around.  You fail miserably, get a golden handshake and then move onto the next team.  Well, former England boss Sven Goran Eriksson has agreed in principle to manage the Iraqi national side.  He is 70 years old now...I wonder if he has ever thought of retirement?  Now, that's a good team!

Tom Watson nearly shot his age in the Senior Open at St Andrews.  The 68 year old shot a magnificent round of 69 - that is fantastic playing for someone of that age at St Andrews.  Meanwhile, Bryson Dechambeau shot a 66 to lead the Porsche Open.  He is the pro who plays with all the same length golf clubs.  I have tried something similar and they do feel strange.

You know you are drunk when mosquitoes get a buzz after attacking you.
