There are five meetings taking place this afternoon with flat cards from Catterick, Lingfield,  Yarmouth and Wolverhampton as well as a jumps card from Uttoxeter.  David has two runners today at Uttoxeter; Timeforben (pictured above) and Druide Premier.  Timeforben contests the 2m7½f handicap hurdle at 3.50pm having won two of her last three starts.  She was a ready winner at Worcester last time out on good ground and a 5lbs rise in the weights is not unreasonable - this is a competitive little race but she should go well once again.  Druide Premier runs in the bumper at 4.50pm.  He finished a good third at Newton Abbot on his racecourse debut and will have learned a great deal for that experience.  Tom Scudamore is aboard the pair.

I see that some of racing's leading pundits have been giving their opinions on the forthcoming Open golf championship.  Sir Anthony McCoy says that he always likes a wager on the Open and has backed Rory McIlroy this time around at 20/1 as well as Tommy Fleetwood at 22's and Brandon Grace at 40's.  Former champion flat jockey Richard Hughes fancies John Rahm at 25/1 as well as Tiger Woods each way, while Mick Fitzgerald has tipped up Chris Wood at a huge 125/1...let's hope they get a winner between them!

I hope a few of you followed me and had a little bet on England to win the cricket yesterday.  They beat India by 8 wickets thanks in great part to a fantastic ton from Joe Root.

Arsene Wenger has finally admitted that his biggest mistake as a football manager was staying with the same club for 22 years.  Anyone with an interest in football can see that he went on too long at Arsenal.  Meanwhile, Manchester United have just released their most expensive home kit ever.  It will set the fans back £183 and is just another way of fleecing the supporters.  The shirt costs £109, the shorts £42 and the socks £30...yes, I did say £30 for a pair of socks.  They must think that the fans are on footballers wages!
