Take the High Road runs tonight & is For Sale

Today there are six meetings, five flat cards at Newmarket, York, Ascot, Chester and Chepstow plus a jumps card at Ffos Las.  David has one runner at Ffos Las this evening, Take the High Road in the 7.35pm 2 mile handicap hurdle.  He is having his first start for the yard and first run in a handicap off a mark of 104.  We expect him to run okay with Tom Scu in the sadddle.  He is also still for sale by the way!  Take the High Road is looking for a new owner so please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any interest, he represents great value for money!  Just a quick note on race planning - why is there two evening meetings at racecourse not that far apart?  Tonight you have Ffos Las and Chepstow.  I appreciate one is jumps meeting and the one is a flat meeting but it just seems a little silly to me!

I hope you all got my clue yesterday when I said I did not want to advertise the winner of the 2.25pm at Newmarket?!

I see that champion jockey Silvestre De Sousa lost his appeal against a seven day ban for failing to obtain the best possible placing in a race at Chelmsford last Friday.  I think this could impact the flat jockeys title race and make things a lot closer.  This is a bad time of year for any flat jockey to get a ban.  The jump jockeys title race I think will be a lot closer this year between champion Richard Johnson and Harry Skelton.  Harry has a lead of 22 over Johnson which I think is a lot even at this stage of the year and will take a lot of pegging back.  The betting still has Johnson at odds on while I have had a little interest on Skelton at 7/4.

England got a right stuffing in the Cricket against India who I must say looked different class.  They got 269 and only lost two wickets and they only took 40.1 over to do it!

At Wimbledon Serena Williams won in straight sets to reach the final and this will be her 10th Wimbledon final.  Just think it was only 10 months ago that she had her baby!  If it was me I think I would still be in the recovery room!  She just hits the ball so hard and it is a fantastic achievement.

In golf, Phil Mickleson has said he has done a lot of dumb stuff.  He was of course talking about hitting the ball before it stopped at Shinnecock Hills recently.  He shot a level par 70 in the Scottish Open yesterday.

I am not superstitious but it is Friday 13th and I am staying in bed all day!  My wife said guys like you don't grow on trees...they swing from them!  Have a nice day.
