There are five meetings taking place this afternoon and the action is all taking place on the flat with fixtures from Catterick, Yarmouth, Lingfield, Kempton and Bath.  I thought that Chato put up a good first effort for the stable when finishing third at Uttoxeter last night in the 2m7½f handicap hurdle.  Judged by this effort, it should not be long before he is winning and he is already starting to look like a good purchase from the Doncaster Sales.

I see that Ascot racecourse have upset ITV by leaving Racing UK in favour of the new Sky Sports Racing Channel.  It's all about money these days and we all know how well Sky pay given their monopoly of all the major sporting events.

I was amused to see that trainer John Mackie cooked light weight jockey Jimmy Quinn a big steak as he had a couple of top weights to ride.  It obviously paid off as Art Echo scored at Wolverhampton under 10-0 - I guess the jockey didn't need to have quite so much lead in his saddle cloth!  A trainer cooking steak...I know one former trainer who has just learned to make a cup of tea!

One of our former owner's, Frank Farrant is a very young looking 71 today.  Frank and his glamorous wife Alison had some great horses down the years including Valfinet, Liadett, Heros Fatal and Tamarpour to name just a few.  I am sure it is Alison that keeps Frank looking so young!  Many happy returns Frank...we hope you have a great day.

It's the biggest sporting event for many years on television tonight as England take on Croatia with a place in the World Cup Final up for grabs.  The match kicks off on ITV at 7pm tonight and a victory for England would see them in the final for the first time since 1966...and we all know what happened then!  England are 11/8 and look worth a little bet, while I hope a few of you followed me by backing the French to win the other semi-final.  I don't think Holby City or Fake Britain will be getting many viewers tonight.  Come on England!

I wasn't sure of what to make of Andy Murray's appearance on the Wimbledon coverage yesterday.  He said that Novak Djokovic could win the title...his injury has clearly affected his judgement.  I couldn't have Djockovic on my mind.

At school I was perfect.  I don't know why they made me one, I couldn't even spell!
