There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with jumps meetings from Taunton, Plumpton and Stratford as well as an all-weather flat fixture from Chelmsford City.  It is a busy day for the stable where David has six runners at Taunton; River Dun, Miss Tynte, Delface, Martabot, Mrs Miggins and Mechelen.  River Dun took a step back in the right direction last time out when not beaten at all far at the track last time and she looks to have each way claims.  Miss Tynte was a good second last time to a horse that was not discredited in a graded race since and is another with a chance in the mares' handicap hurdle.  Delface and Martabot contest the 2m3f handicap hurdle at 4.10pm - Delface (pictured above) was a good second at Leicester on heavy ground last time and should go well once again, while Martabot showed up well for a long way at Chepstow last time and cannot be discounted.  Mrs Miggins and Mechelen both run in the closing bumper and the former showed plenty of ability when third on her debut and she should go well once again, while Mechelen will obviously benefit from her racecourse debut.

I thought that Queen's Cave ran a cracker in the Listed mares' bumper at Sandown on Saturday, finishing a narrow runner-up.  She was in front of plenty of winners and looks like a terrific hurdling prospect, maybe over a slightly longer trip.

I watched Spurs win 4-1 at Bournemouth yesterday, although the match was a lot closer than the scoreline would indicate.  Harry Kane left the ground on crutches after a clash with Begovic - that would be a terrible result for Tottenham.  Meanwhile, Stoke take on Manchester City tonight at 8pm on Sky and City should win easily, although a price of 1/4 is prohibitive.

Tiger Woods finished runner-up to David Casey at the weekend.  It was Casey's first win on the tour since 2009, while it was also Woods' best form for years.  I wonder if he can win again?  I must admit to having my doubts, although on this form the answer has to be yes.  That would be fantastic for the sport.
