I think the ground description on the chase course at Leicester seems to cover all angles.  It is described as good, good to firm in places and soft on the flat crossings so if you have a bet on any of the chase races today you should get some ground that your horse likes!  Different types of ground is probably the worst that a horse can run on I think.  You imgaine jumping from firm ground onto soft or the other way round.  I tried it the other day and it does jar you up a bit!  In all seriousness Leicester has to pass an 8.30am inspection for racing to go ahead today so lets keep our fingers crossed it does.

I see bookmaker Barry Dennis is quitting the betting ring.  He says years ago he was turning over £50,000 a day and now he is turning over just £10,000 which is a massive drop in money.  It is such a shame as you need character like Barry involved in racing but it seems in all ways of life that the characters are disappearing.  It also appears as well that there is not the amount of money around in Brixham that there used to be.  It was the quietest New Year in Brixham that I can remember.  Normally everyone is in fancy dress and every pub is full.  Not this year.  My local landlord says he has noticed his turnover is right down so it is not just the bookmakers that are suffering, it seems to be every business.  I will miss Barry, mind you I will not have to buy anymore cotton wool  for my ears!

I find one of the latest rumours from the football world rather interesting.  Can you imagine Ronaldinho going to Blackburn?!  That is the latest story coming out of the new owners comic.  The player does probably not even know where Blackburn is!  It is also very cold up North and Ronaldinho already looks like he has eaten all the pies!  Have a nice day.
