The trainers of yesterday's handicap good thing Jovial had better turn him out again soon.  The three year old won by three lengths and couldn't have been more impressive.  He currently has a very modest handicap mark of just 51, but he will be taking some hike up the weights after this success.  His 3lbs apprentice jockey rode him very well, and I will be looking out for him again in the very near future.

There is a good article by Lee Mottershead in the Racing Post about A P McCoy.  What amused me was the picture of Lee and AP on the mechanical horse...is it just me, or does anyone else think that Lee looks like the horse?!  I know the saying that owners look like their dogs, but jockeys looking like a mechanical horse - whatever next?!

Following his impressive hurdling debut at Aintree on Sunday, there is word that Cue Card may run in the Champion Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival in March.  This could well be a step too far - let's just come back down to earth a moment...he has only won a novices' hurdle so far and he would be taking on seasoned jumpers.  If I was fortunate enough to own him, I think I would stay on the novices' route for this season and maybe the Champion next season, but what do I know?

I will be joining David and Martin up at the Newmarket Sales today - I just hope that it is not too windy.  We will be going up by helicopter, but I don't like flying very much at the best of times - I will certainly be pleased to be back on solid ground!
