Callie Coles Visits Pond House
We had just the two runners last week and it was great to get Old Bridge back on track with a good run to finish second at Uttoxeter. He appreciated stepping up in distance to 2m4f on a more galloping track and stayed to the line strongly behind a well-treated rival. On this evidence, we can get his head in front over hurdles soon. Bashful Boy runs at Goodwood Today
We have one runner today at Glorious Goodwood, Bashful Boy who runs in the opening contest on the card, the 2m4f staying handicap and Amt Waugh rides. There are 12 runners and it is a competitive handicap and we are one of the outsiders of the field but I would hope he has an each way chance. The deluge of rain at the track yesterday was not necessarily ideal but I imagine the track could even dry back to good to soft going by the first race which will be absolutely fine. He does have some form on soft going, including when he finished fourth in the 2023 Cesarewitch at a big price. While he has not won for a while, he ran well in the Chester Cup earlier this summer and then ran well to be a close third at Newbury last time in the first time visor which he retains today. He races from out of the handicap but Amy claims a handy three pounds and he won't know he even has anyone on his back! It is a tough assignment but if he puts his best foot forwards I would not be surprised to see him but up a nice performance.
