Will Kitchman

Will has been with us at Pond House since April 2008 working as a Stable Lad.  He is a mischievous chap in the yard, who you can never take too seriously!

Born in York 27th July 1991, Will grew up being influenced by his Grandfather who used to commentate and work for the press on racing.  His sister was always keen on horses and Will blames the fact that he works with horses now on her as she ‘was into them when she was young!’  He competed in the Pony Club, hunted, and then went on to work for Bob Woodhouse racing for a year and a half, riding and carrying out stable duties.  It seems that he has kept the interest, as he has continued in the racing world, and went to work at Noel Wilson’s racing yard for two years before joining the Pipe team.

Will reckons Sainte Kadette is the best horse that he looks after as she has a lot of character, although his favourite in the yard is Well Chief for his big persona and success.

Although this summer has been rather dreary weather wise, Will thinks the summer months are highly enjoyable to work in, with the sunshine, fine weather and mischief he can cause!  Despite his playful side, Will has some serious ambition and would love to one day became an amateur jockey and eventually become trainer.  We shall see…
