Job Description:         Work Rider

 Sue was born and bred in Somerset, with her parents being farmers in a small village called Apply.  Sue comes from a large family, which consists of three brothers and four sisters.

After leaving school Sue was undecided what the future held for her.  She started working life as a nanny to her cousin's two children.  After working with children she moved to a local hunting yard.  Sue spent the next year learning about horses and stable management.  After a year with hunters Sue had sought a change of direction and that was when the progression to racehorses happened.  Sue moved to a racing yard on the Quantocks, and immediately found a big difference between hunters and racehorses, but soon adapted. 

After six years at the yard Sue became head girl, although only staying further year, before moving to Pond House. 

Sue moved to Pond House in 1985 and has seen the yard grow from strength to strength.  While working at Pond House Sue met her husband, Jonothan Lower.  Jonothan and Sue have a daughter, Bethany Grace, who was born in 1998. 

While being part of the Pond House team Sue has looked after many good horses.  Run For Free, who won the Welsh and Scottish National, Rushing Wild, who finished second in the Cheltenham Gold Cup and also Challenger du Luc who won the Cathcart Chase at the 1996 Cheltenham Festival, the Murphy's Gold Cup at Cheltenham in 1996 and he also posted a career best effort in finishing second to See More Business in the 1997 King George VI Chase at Kempton.
