 Poul has
been working as a Barn Leader since starting at Sunnyside in 1992. He
has only worked for one other trainer in England, Rodney Baker.
Poul is originally from Denmark and moved to England in 1989. He worked
with horses in Denmark, but not racehorses. He enjoyed working in riding
centres, and his hobbies are show jumping and dressage, although he does
not have time to compete anymore.
Poul had a short spell as head lad at Sunnyside and has seen many
thrills and spills over the years. Being a very capable rider he gets to
ride some of the difficult horses. He recalls a hairy moment in thick
fog on the gallop when his reins broke and he nearly ran the head lad
over - he chose to jump off because he could not stop!
Poul has great camaraderie with his work mates as they all take the
mickey out of him because of his Danish accent! Poul has three children,
Danielle, Ryan and Domenique.
