Gemma Edwards

Gemma has been working in the office at Pond House for nearly two and a half years having started here in December 2003. The whole family is involved with horses, her father Gordon, riding many point-to-point winners and now training some National Hunt horses under permit. Her brother Darren, currently riding as an amateur and whom rode Maximize to win the 2004 Kim Muir at the Cheltenham Festival, and mother Angela who looks after the string at home.

Gemma comes from near a village called Wheddon Cross, not far from Minehead and was born on 26th August 1982. She went to university in Cardiff gaining a 2:1 Bsc (Hons) in Sport and Physical Education and worked for the County Council before joining Pond House. Her hobbies include a wide variety of sports, and she supports Manchester United. Gemma plays hockey for Taunton Vale and is very thankful to Mr Pipe for allowing some time off on Saturday's to play!

Gemma has ridden since she was 18 months old but does not ride out at the yard. She has participated in all Pony Club activities; the highlights being reaching the Prince Philip mounted games finals at the Horse of the Year Show, Wembley in 1995 and 1997 and being selected for the England team for the same discipline in 1996. She has had a few rides in point to points, her best placing being second aboard a horse called Chickabiddy, owned by her father, and who provided A P McCoy with his first winner in this country.
