There are five meetings taking place this afternoon with flat cards from Sandown, Doncaster, Beverley and Haydock supported by a jumps fixture at Newton Abbot.  The stable has no runners this afternoon and Tom Scudamore has picked up just the one ride in the 3.45pm aboard My Legal Lady, let's hope that he can make it count.  Meanwhile super agent Dave Roberts has been working overtime on Richard Johnson's behalf as he has six rides.  I hope a few of you followed me in and backed Broughtons Bandit and Russian Regent yesterday - they won at odds of 7/2 and evens on a memorable day for Gordon Elliott who trained seven winners in total over here and back home in Ireland.

There was an impressive victory for William Knight's odds-on favourite Solar Flair at Lingfield yesterday following-up his recent easy Newmarket win.  He should run again before the handicapper can exact his revenge - he looks most progressive and should be winning again.

I see that David picked up another horse from the Arqana Sales at Deauville yesterday - this time it is a four year old with some decent form on the flat.  He is called Honeymoon Cocktail and is another grey son of Martaline (sire of Dynaste).  David certainly likes his greys and has done very well with the likes of Grands Crus, Gevrey Chambertin, Great Endeavour and Dynaste who have all won major prizes - let's hope this latest addition can maintain this trend.  Maybe there is a newly married couple out there who the name may appeal to?!

Anyway if you are interested in purchasing him or the unraced three year old from the day before (pictured right), do get in touch - based on David's record with Arqana sales purchases they do not normally remain for sale for long.

It is time for British lady Heather Watson to step-up at Wimbledon as she faces the mighty Serena Williams.  Watson is a 12/1 chance to beat Williams and I wouldn't be in any hurry to take that price!  The bookies don't tend to give anything away.  I wonder if anyone has backed Watson or are they still locked up?!

It looks as though Rafa Nadal's best days are behind him after the former world number one was beaten by Dustin Brown - a German who is not ranked in the top 100 in the world.  Not a terribly German sounding name either!

Could Tiger Woods be enjoying something of a revival of fortunes?  He shot a four under par round of 66 in the Green Brier Classic in West Virginia yesterday - his lowest score of the season and only the fourth time he has shot a round in the 60's from 21 attempts.  Mind you, the course looks very different from the US Open courses where he shot 80 and 76.

My beloved West Ham won 3-0 against FC Lusitans before a sellout 36,000 crowd.  The visitors did put it about a bit and I bet that new manager Slave Bilic and his assistant Julian Dicks would have both loved to have been on the pitch - they certainly took no prisoners during their playing days.  Talking of football I see that Liverpool player Adam Lallana was in the Royal Box at Wimbledon - he seems to get an awful lot of money for not doing a lot.

Did you know that 20% of all road accidents in Sweden involve a moose?  I am staggered by those figures and I bet they prove deer for the insurance companies!
